Phil Eyre

Managing Director

Phil has over 35 years’ experience in the aviation industry working for British Airways and British Midland where various roles included managing the African airport network for British Airways. Phil has lived and worked in Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and South Africa as well as Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. He has visited over 30 of the 54 African states and been a board member of two African GHAs. He has worked on joint ventures between British Airways and African airlines and worked on African start up airline projects. He founded Astra Aviation to fill a niche gap in the market using his experience and training from British Airways to deliver flight support services to international airline standards across Africa.

Kim Scott

Business & Operational Support Manager

Kim worked for British Airways in Johannesburg, South Africa for 17 years in various customer service roles as well as working in a support for the Service Delivery Manager Southern Africa. Kim joined  the Astra Management Team as an Operations Manager in May 2009 and has now taken on the role of Business and Operational Support Manager.
Joel Arcambal

Operational Duty Manager

Joel has 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry working for Air France and British Airways. Joel has worked in Sales, Customer Services, Cargo, Operations and the Overseas team. He has worked and lived in Africa including Algeria, Nigeria and Angola. He managed overseas airports which gave him additional experience for dealing with different cultures and work practices. With the different positions occupied and countries visited Joel has gained a broad knowledge of the aviation business and especially in difficult and challenging environment. Joel joined the Astra Management Team in September 2009.
Leon Botha

Operational Duty Manager

Leon has over 30 years’ experience in the aviation industry working for South African Airways and other domestic and regional airlines. Roles included planning and execution of commercial as well as chartered flights International and domestically. Leon is living in South Africa and joined Astra Aviation in Mar2016.
